Clarendon Street Arcade

Discover playable art machines along an arcade gaming trail.

Troy Innocent + Carlo Tolentino

In 2022, the City of Port Phillip commissioned us to design and implement Clarendon Street Arcade. It consists of 5 custom-made arcade cabinets loaded with original games that are inspired by Melbourne’s geography, culture, city life and Indigenous history. The games were designed in collaboration with local artists, gamemakers, academics, students and First Nations People. The cabinets are fully playable outdoors on the street, forming a 'trail' along Clarendon Street in South Melbourne.

Classic arcade games have been reimagined to transform the street into a games hub that is accessible and playable for everyone. Enjoy a unique outdoor arcade experience as you take in some of the best café’s, shops and restaurants in South Melbourne. Play Yawa, a game about Boon Wurrung language featuring art by Jarra Karalinar Steel, battle it out with Jukebot, make a Musimoji, play games made by RMIT students in a 10-in-1 arcade, or head down the Yomeci Hole. Challenge yourself or collaborate with friends.
